Self described as a mixture of emo, americana, and pop.
henry.sam.ocean does possess a kinetic energy that might drive a listener to make such claims, although there are other elements in the mix. Some of these elements might lead a listener to think of a darker version of the Church or the Jesus and Mary Chain.

Almost out of necessity, three-piece bands keep the music sparse and muscular. Scott elaborates: "In a three-piece, you've got to keep things moving, and strive at every opportunity to do what you can to keep the music sounding full.

Originally, we thought we had to have a fourth member, but after our first couple of shows, the response was so positive to what we were accomplishing as a three piece, we found ourselves enjoying working within the parameters of a trio."
